About Me

Welcome! My name is Matthew or Koopa. I enjoy art to quite an extent, I also enjoy planting and maintaining a tulip garden along with, of course, technology. Quite an odd array if I do say so myself. I have been painting (primarily oil on canvas) and sculpting (plaster and clay mediums) for around 15 years.

Battle Bunker

Here I am at the Battle Bunker in Chicago IL.  This place was awesome, definitely need to go back.

Tournament went well, I went 2-1 with wood elves.  Only loss was to a dual hydra lvl 4 sorceress list.  Between the horrible rolling I had and just not enough shots to deal with the hydras I got ground down.  I just didn't bring a mean enough list to be able to deal with that.  But was still a great time!

WE BSB - WIP

Well to go with my cherry blossom theme I have started up my BSB.  I need to do NMM on the sword / pike blades and still need to figure out what to do with the banner.  Open to ideas... Also this will be the color scheme I will be redoing my GG in.  Still have clean up / finish some blending but I think its looking decent.  Still needs work, another wash to tone down high lights and touch up etc.

and once again, photo quality from my camera is poor, taking these guys over to a friends house sometime soon to have him photograph them in his booth

Any comments / critism more than welcome, give me some ideas for the banner!

WE List Contemplations

I made a few modifications to my 2k list that I've had pretty decent success with. I have tournaments the next two weekends, they are no comp but as my army will be fully painted it should help with the soft score a bit. Two lists below I am considering, one with a treeman the other without any changes, ideas, thoughts, comments I could really use.

My thoughts:

The big differences are list 1 treeman : adds treesing (this would assist in allow the BSB and/or spellweaver who are hidden in the free wood to safely stay in position), a solid addition to combat to crack hordes that gives the BSB added value to the list overall and strangeroots. The scouts would pick up the role of a 2nd eagle and battle line disturbance and add 5 shots (27 shots + a strangle root in list 1) (34 shots in list 2).

List 2 ditches the scouts in favor of a few more glade guard and beefier dryad units and adds 6 warhawk riders, with vanguard and good charge range they will be charging war machines turn 2 regardless, I see this as a two part benefit - a) I feel the warhawks are sturdy enough to take some shooting and still be charging turn 2, with LoLife supporting them to boot. b) The fire drawn by the warhawk riders will be fire that is not going into either of the treekin units who will be used very aggressively.

Anyhow here is the list:

Test runs with air brush

Getting familiar with how the brush works, so just messed a round a bit. Tomorrow night I will get into some more formal "training" exercises.

So far lessons learned:

Treekin

Well I got the 12 Treekin about 95% done. Minor touch ups and adding some more pink "fallen flowers" is the remaining steps, but I've got them to the point where I can take them to the tournament next weekend anyhow.

Colors:
Dark Flesh basecoat
Devlan Mud wash
Graveyard Earth highlights

GC: Squid Pink
Baal Red wash
P3 Carnal Pink Highlights

They really do look quite a lot better in person, especially the shrubs on the bases... this picture isn't flattering but best I can do with a phone camera.

Status Update

Getting the blog established again, never really got into it previously but now I plan on maintaining army journals on here.

Anyhow, last month I finished up my dryads, need to get some pictures of those up. I've been working hard to finish up my treekin. I have one test model done the others should be done within the week. This should be a wrap to the army. I have also purchased a Blood Angels army, and an airbrush I fully intend on learning how to use! Stay tuned for pictures, airbrush learning points and thoughts on Blood Angel conversions!
